Weighing over 551 pounds, Charlie suffers from morbid obesity and has refused to leave the house for several years. An English teacher at an online university, he teaches his classes with his camera off to avoid revealing his appearance. But now, determined to win the affection of his daughter, who is going through a particularly delicate time in her life, he finally feels able to face his demons. Brendan Fraser's performance won him a Critics' Choice Award and he was nominated for a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Oscar for Best Actor.
