Set in the 1920s on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, "The Spirits of Inisherin" follows two long-time friends, Pádraic and Colm, from the moment Colm unexpectedly ends their friendship. But Pádraic's repeated efforts only strengthen his former friend's resolve and when Colm issues a desperate ultimatum, events soon assume greater gravity with alarming consequences. The film has nine nominations for the Oscars.
