Students from D. Sancho I High School awarded in the Young Reporters for the Environment Programme

The written report "Your Used Mask can be Valued" by Cátia Araújo, José Pedro Araújo and Juliana Silva, students of the 12th year of D. Sancho I High School, won first place in the second category (15 to 18 years old), in the National Competition Young Reporters for the Environment (JRA) 2021. In addition to these projects, Gonçalo Oliveira, Inês Bernardino, João Pedro Granja, Luís Guimarães and Pedro Telmo Pires also received an honourable mention for the article ""Horta Biológica da D. Sancho" Vence Venta Orçamento Participativo", in the same category and category.
The winning article, which focuses on the project of collection and recovery of used masks developed by the Centre for Waste Recovery of the University of Minho and TO-BE-GREEN, is now in the international competition of the program - Young Reporters for the Environment International Competition - in the category "Articles 15-18 years". In addition, present in this competition is the report "How Can Traditional Watering Systems Help The Environment?” in the "International Collaboration" category, developed by students from this school in partnership with the Secondary Vocational School Spasoje Raspopovic (Montenegro), which addresses local efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Young Reporters for the Environment (JRA) is an international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), promoted by the "Associação Bandeira Azul da Europa" (ABAE/ Europe's Blue Flag Association), the Portuguese section of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which aims to contribute to training for the exercise of an active and participative citizenship, emphasising environmental journalism. This contest is part of the activities of the JRA Program and aims to recognize and disseminate the best reports on sustainability made by young Portuguese throughout the year.
