An adaptation of the novel of the same name by Agustina Bessa-Luís, published in 1954, The Sibyl marks the centenary of the writer's birth. The film focuses on the trajectory, intrigues and conspiracies of two generations of the Teixeira family between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century. Like the literary work, the narrative is told in a flashback by Germa at Casa da Vessada, a property in the north of Portugal that she inherited from her aunt - Joaquina Augusta Teixeira, the sibyl. This is the first feature film by Eduardo Brito who, alongside his career as a director, has worked as a screenwriter on films by Paulo Abreu, Manuel Mozos and Rodrigo Areias.
