The Ave river basin was characterised by a process of industrialisation whose energy availability was mainly based on water. This natural resource, however, was widely used to evacuate all kinds of sewage resulting from industrial activity. Through the records of the Historical Archive of the Administration of the Northern Hydrographic Region, it is possible to study the history of industrial contamination in the region. In this presentation, we will try to understand a particular chapter in our country's environmental history, highlighting the extent of waste dumping (such as discharges from the dyeing section), as well as the relationship of political authorities, industries and communities with the surrounding ecosystems.
