More than a dozen children with disabilities and their families are already enjoying the project "Inclusive Summer Holidays" that is taking place since June and until the end of July, in the recently opened Educational Resources Centre, installed in the Higher Education Research and Innovation Centre, in Famalicão.
This project seeks to respond to the needs identified by the families of children and young people with disabilities, during the school break, due to the lack of leisure programmes designed for all those who need them. Thus, the "Inclusive Summer Holidays" project is the result of several wills and sensitivities, seeking to multiply smiles, experiences and much joy among these young people.
This project offers a diversity of experiences through multiple thematic workshops that are complemented with playful and therapeutic activities, such as sensory integration, snoezelen and art therapy.
Besides the playful, cultural and therapeutic value, this project is distinguished by its social and pedagogical character, which fills a gap in the organisation of the response in terms of offer of specialized holiday’s programmes to children and young people with special needs.
