The building of the old fire station of the Voluntary Firemen of Riba de Ave, situated in the Narciso Ferreira Avenue, right in the centre of the village, will be acquired by the City Council of Famalicão, with the purpose of having there the GNR unit of Riba de Ave.
The City Council will acquire the building for the value of 150 thousand euros according to the proposal presented in the last meeting of the municipal executive.
"We know that the current GNR facilities in Riba de Ave don't have the conditions that are demanded. The operatives work without the means they should have. We want the security of the people to be assured in an effective way and for that the means are essential”, said the Mayor, Paulo Cunha, at the end of the meeting.
"The City Council is doing what it should do, which is to make available to the Ministry of Internal Administration the space acquired from the fire brigade and from here all the conditions are met at the level of infrastructure to move forward the new GNR space”, stressed the Mayor, emphasising that "now is the side of the government the development necessary for this to come true”.
The Mayor was hopeful that "the Government will move forward with the project and the necessary investment to make the adaptation works”.
