In the weekend that celebrates the traditional festivities in honour of Santa Catarina, the Union of Famalicão and Calendário parishes could not have received better news.
The requalification project of the surrounding area of Santa Catarina's chapel is concluded and was yesterday delivered by the Mayor to the President of the Parish Council, Estela Veloso, in the work visit that took Mário Passos to tour the two parishes.
The project, elaborated by the City Hall, will now be analysed by the Council and the Archdiocese. The valorisation of the existing patrimony, the requalification of the pavement and the creation of a structured cover integrated with the surroundings for the various moments of conviviality are some of the works foreseen in the contract.
Besides the elaboration of the project, the mayor also expressed the City Council's total availability to financially support the accomplishment of the work.
In the “Presidency of Proximity" of this Tuesday, Mário Passos also had the opportunity to verify the investment made in the requalification of the pavements next to the Vinhal playground. The Mayor also took the opportunity to visit the entrance that was created in Vinhal to access the bicycle path.
The afternoon ended with the Mayor collecting the contributions of the representatives of the parish living forces. The environmental issues, namely the cleaning of the city and the depollution of the rivers, and the lack of space to build headquarters for associations were some of the problems/needs pointed out by about 80 people that attended the meeting.
