"The conversations I have had with the population in the Presidency of Proximity, have been valuable for the development of Famalicão" highlighted the Mayor, Mário Passos, during his visit to the parish of Castelões, held yesterday afternoon in the scope of the presidential itinerary. Besides the public meeting with the local community, the mayor toured the parish and projected works in the company of the President of the Junta, Francisco Sá.
Among the concerns presented by the castelonenses are the conditions of the exterior space of the school centre, about which the mayor stated, "a survey of the needs of the municipality's school park is being carried out, to verify and intervene in the most urgent situations", highlighting that the capacitation of the school grounds is already underway.
As in other sessions of the Presidency of Proximity, the public transport deficit was in evidence, as well as the logistic conditions of the associations and local groups, about which the leader of the municipal executive stated that "the City Hall will continue to give the due support (...) we will conclude the projects in course and we will remain attentive to the most pressing matters. The informal work that exists here is of great value to civil society". Regarding the reinforcement of transport, he reiterated that a transport network is being created that will "significantly increase the offer of the public transport network".
It should be noted that, during the on-site visit, the intervention in the exterior space of the Castelões cemetery was under analysis, namely, the increase of parking spaces, the construction of pavements and the improvement of the walls that surround the cemetery, as well as the reinforcement of the safety conditions for pedestrians, through the placement of a raised zebra crossing in critical zones, and the repair of road sections that are in poor condition, such as Travessa Dr. Bernardo Fonseca e Castro.
