"They want to see! They want to see! They want to see! We are the Star. Front page: 'Look at the Main March'". The Associação Cultural S. Salvador da Lagoa is the great winner of the 2022 Antonine Marches of Famalicão. With "Gossips at the window”, the marchers from Lagoa conquered the jury of the marches, having obtained a total of 97 points. By parts, Lagoa won the Archs, the Wardrobe and the recognition of the street jury as the Most Popular March.
In second place was the Associação Cultural e Desportiva de S. Martinho de Brufe with 86 points, having obtained the recognition of the best lyrics by the jury. In third place, with 84 points, came the Associação Cultural e Recreativa de S. Pedro de Riba D'Ave.
Famalicão lived its great night of Antonines with a joy which has not been seen for a long time. Thousands of people elbowed their way through the main streets of the city to watch the parade of more than seven hundred performers who gave colour and sound to the seven participating marches, this year dedicated to the theme: "Newspapers of Vila Nova".
The jury of the marches was composed of five elements invited by the City Council: a choreographer, a director, a writer, a conductor and a costume designer.
"It was a magical moment that filled our souls with energy and cheered us up", said the Mayor, Mário Passos, "deeply touched by the work, the joy, the delivery, the enthusiasm of all the marches." "Many thanks to all of them", he said.
They made magic, in Famalicão, the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Antas, the Union of Freguesias of Gondifelos, Cavalões and Outiz, the Associação Cultural e Desportiva de São Martinho de Brufe, the Casa do Povo de Ruivães, the Associação Recreativa e Cultural da Flor Monte - Carreira, the Associação Cultural e Recreativa São Pedro Riba D'Ave and LACS - Associação Cultural de São Salvador da Lagoa.
The prize-giving ceremony will take place today, June 13, municipal holiday, at Praceta Cupertino de Miranda, starting at 18h30.
Besides the podium places, there will also be prizes for "Best Music", "Best Lyrics", "Best Choreography", "Best Costume", "Best Bows" and "Most Popular March".
