Famalicão, Riba de Ave and Joane give stage to FAMAFOLK

Nearly half a thousand folklorists, from four national and four international folkloric groups will perform in three galas on the 5th, 6th and 7th of August, in the Famalicão International Folklore Festival, FAMAFOLK. The events will take place, respectively, in Famalicão, Riba de Ave and Joane, with free entrance.
Having the gardens of the City Hall of Famalicão as a backdrop, the FAMAFOLK opening gala happens next Friday, August 5th, at 21h30, and will feature the performances of the Ethnographic Group of S. Tiago da Cruz (V. N. Famalicão), the Ethnographic Group Rusga de Joane (V. N. Famalicão), host of the festival, and of the four international groups invited for this edition, among them, Compañía de Danzas de Funga, from Colombia, Compañía Mexicana de Danza Folklorica, from Mexico, Folklore Ensemble Bystry, from Poland, and Escola de ball de bot DIT I FET, from Spain.
On this day, the workshop "Dances in the World" will also take place, at 15h30, in the Praça - Famalicão Municipal Market, a dynamic, with free entrance, which invites the famalicenses to explore their traditional dances and rhythms of the four international groups present in the festival.
The second gala of the festival will take place on Saturday, 6th, at 21h30, in the Largo da Igreja de Riba de Ave, with the participation of the four international groups and the host group, accompanied by Rancho Folclórico S. Martinho de Brufe (V.N. Famalicão).
The 2nd edition of FAMAFOLK ends on Sunday, August 7th, with an Ecumenical Celebration in the Joane Church, at 11h00, and in the afternoon, at 15h30, the Parque da Ribeira, in Joane, receives the Closing Gala, a show that includes performances by the Folkloric Group of the Casa do Povo de Santa Cruz do Bispo (Matosinhos), as well as the invited International groups and the Rusga de Joane.
This international event has the support of Vila Nova de Famalicão City Hall, Joane and Riba de Ave Parish Council, Portuguese Folklore Federation, INATEL Foundation and CIOFF Portugal Association.
