Famalicão promoted a workshop in the scope of the European project JustGreen

Last week, in online format, the first workshop promoted in the scope of the European project "Social Economy For a JustGreen Transition" of the COSME - Missions of Social Economy programme, organised by the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, took place. The initiative, which counted with the participation of a set of local partners such as Social and Cultural Centre S. Pedro de Bairro, Social and Parish Centre of Ribeirão, Social Centre of Calendário, Engenho, CIOR and REFOOD Famalicão, aimed at sharing examples of good practices. With the work carried out, the project aims to develop material that can lead to the emergence of projects and support ideas for the implementation of new local policies, with the objective of boosting the transition of the social economy towards a greener economy and a fairer society.

The City Council of Famalicão is coordinator of the European project JustGreen in the scope of the application to the COSME programme - Social Economy Missions 2020, until January 2022.

The JustGreen project promotes the exchange of knowledge between private social economy institutions and public institutions, focusing on the green and digital transition of social economy organisations, in three lines of action: Fostering short circuits of food distribution and enhancing sustainable and local development of social organisations; promoting circular economy of material and immaterial resources in social organisations and promoting the decarbonisation of the social economy and developing social innovation projects, in terms of digitalisation, to meet social needs.

The City Council of Famalicão is leading and coordinating the work of this consortium, which gathers 4 other countries, namely Poland, through the City Council of Swietochlowice, located in the south of Poland, Silesia Voivodeship; Italy, through the City Council of Mozzo, north of Italy, near Bergamo; Hungary, through the City Council of Terézváros, 6th district of Budapest and Belgium through ENSIE - European Network of Social Integration Enterprises, which gathers 21 European countries.

The development of the project foresees the organisation of 3 workshops to share knowledge and good practices between the social organisations of Famalicão and the partner cities.
