Comfysocks is a Danish company, founded in 1998 by two experienced textile manufacturers, Jørgen Mørup and Steen Aaes, dedicated to the production of high-performance sports socks. It arrived in Famalicão in March this year, in the scope of a relocation process of the production unit and already employs around 115 people. The company, which was visited this week by the Mayor, Paulo Cunha, and by the councillor for Economy and Innovation, Augusto Lima, occupies a complex of 4 industrial pavilions in the Business Park of Pedra Leital, in Requião, interconnected in an area of 4500m2.
Comfysocks' business base is based on Scandinavian practices and values, and over the years, quality and cutting-edge technology have been fundamental foundations for creating a service of great value for the world-leading brands they work with.
"It has been an atypical year in many dimensions, but for us full of big and interesting changes, to match a large group of growing customers and leaders in their segments. It is in this context that Comfysocks Portugal has an investment project for the biennium 2021/2022 of 2.2 million euros and plans to create around 150 jobs in this period”, explains the director of the unit in Famalicão, Filipe Pereira.
"It is our goal to be at the centre of technological textile development, with highly competent human resources, capable of providing an excellent service and with sustainable business practices. Choosing the North of Portugal and in particular Vila Nova de Famalicão was in a way an easy choice when the alignment of practices, strategies and synergies have so much in common”, explains the same responsible, saying that they are "grateful for the municipal support in the installation of the company and excited about this new stage of its life”.
