The town of Joane will be the stage for theatre from 9th to 31st October, thanks to the 34th edition of Construção Theatre Festival. With a programme aimed at the public on Saturdays, at 21h30, and for children and families on Sundays, at 17h30, the Joane Youth Cultural Centre, at the headquarters of Associação Teatro Construção (ATC), will host eight performances.

The festival is organised by Associação Teatro Construção (ATC). The access to the performances is conditioned to the acquisition of a ticket, with discounts for ATC members, students and pensioners, as well as free attendance for children, when buying a ticket.

On 9th October, the start will be "Retratos Imorais" (Immoral Portraits) by João Guisande, followed on 10th by "Os Contos do Lápis Verde" (Tales of Green Pecil), by Pé de Vento. On the 16th, ACERT's Amateur Theatre Group takes the stage with "CAR12", and on the following day, Mandrágora Theatre and Puppets with "O meu avô consegue voar" (My Grandpa can fly). The following weekend, CARB - Cooperativa Artística da Raia Beirã performs with "(a)Deus de Sofia", as well as Partículas Elementares, which presents "Nest". The last sessions of the festival take place on 30 and 31 October, with the plays "Fardo" (Burden) by Peripécia Teatro and "Os grandes não têm grandes ideias" by the association Fértil Cultural.

ATC is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity with headquarters in Joane, Vila Nova de Famalicão, which covers cultural, social and sports activities. Created in 1977, its origin dates back to 1972, the year in which a group of young people, mostly from the Young Catholic Workers Youth, started to develop a theatrical project, which became to be known as "Teatro Construção". It promotes, annually, a theatre festival that stimulates the dissemination of the work of the best Portuguese theatre companies, the first edition having occurred in 1978.
